The Beehive Collective is seeking proposals for 2010 under our new
theme:
Food: Access, Education,
Sustainability
Food
is an important and timely theme as it touches on many other issues,
such as the environment, health, economics, and social justice to name
a few. We hope to fund projects that increase the safety,
sustainability, and social equity of our food systems in Raleigh.
We
will be awarding two grants of between $5,000 and $15,000 each.
If your organization offers a program that fits our theme, please
consider submitting an application by our deadline on September 17,
2010.
Click here to download our complete Request for Proposals, which includes application
instructions and forms.
The beehive collective made its second grant in December 2009, giving away over $20,000 to two organizations, the Raleigh/Wake Partnership to End and Prevent Homelessness and the Community Success Initiative.
Here's a blurb from our press release:
The
Beehive Collective, a group of more than 50 young women and men
recently gathered together in Raleigh to cast their votes for the
beneficiaries of The Beehive Collective's second grant cycle. After
hearing about the five finalist non-profits last week, The Beehive
Collective members voted to donate $10,000 to the Raleigh/Wake Partnership to End and Prevent Homelessness and $13,000 to Community Success Initiative."We
are excited that by coming together and pooling our resources, the
Beehive Collective is positioning itself to make a significant impact
in Raleigh," said Elizabeth Alley, co-chair of The Beehive Collective.
"Giving away more than $23,000 is going to make a real difference in
the lives of the homeless and formerly incarcerated in our community."To view the full press release, click here.
The beehive collective made its first grant in December 2008 to Passage Home's "Just Greening Communities!" To read more about our grantee, click here.
Below is a short press blurb and the media attention we received as a result.
Announcing the beehive collective's first (2008) annual grantee: Passage Home's "Just Greening Communities" initiative!
The
Just Greening Communities initiative is a great project that will
develop and build affordable, green homes in the neighborhood of
Passage Home's Safety Club. The project will hire and train unemployed
neighborhood
residents to work on building and landscaping for the new green homes,
thus providing both home ownership opportunities and training in "green
jobs."
Thanks to our 42(!) members and many other wonderful supporters, we raised over $10,000 in 2008 and were able to provide the Passage Home with a grant of $9,314. Thank you!
