One of our 2012 small grants of $1,500 was awarded to Raleigh Public Record, whose mission is to cover what does not get reported by other news organizations.

Raleigh Public Record turned a $1,500 Beehive small grant into $57,000 to bring their DocHive software to development. The software takes PDF information (like campaign finance forms) and converts it into a spreadsheet, making it easier to spot trends and sort information. They started this project with the Beehive funds and have been so successful they won a $50,000 Knight Foundation grant to finish the coding and bring the software to life.
